The Wander-lust
I have always loved to travel. When I was growing up in California my favorite pastime was to get on my bike (later on my motorcycle) and head for the back roads, the rivers, the creeks, the woods, or about any place I could to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
A Nine Day Fast
When I went in the service we were given a mandatory leave because of some renovations at the base. Instead of doing what most of the guys did I counted my small amount of money and decided that I had two choices: I could hang around and eat at the base or I could take my money and travel. I filled up my tank and headed for the desert, then the hills, then the rivers. To make a long story short, I did not eat for nine days! I used the money that I had, to put gas in the tank for traveling! Honestly...I did not have one single bite of food or one soda pop or anything but water for nine days so that I could explore! That is how much I love to travel!

That wander-lust is still with me. I love seeing this marvelous world that GOD has given us. Even when I was in the construction business for nearly 30 years, Mary and I would gather up the kids and head for the road. We spent a lot of time in Canada, but also Mexico and many of the US states. Most of the time we had very limited finances and so I suppose that is why I'm so interested in traveling light. But I learned a long time ago that light doesn't mean cheap gear. The best products and equipment will give you the best and longest service and cost less in the long-run.
